“Fleeto, a gang, a group; together and fighting.

Emerging from the Fine Art departments of Photography, Painting and Printmaking and Sculpture and Environmental Art, Glasgow Fleeto is a cross disciplinary, cross national group of 36 2010 Glasgow School of Art graduates.

Using existing allegiances to forge new ones; the Fleeto are descending on London intent on seeking new audiences. Exhibiting at Shoreditch Town Hall from the 13th of August.

Their aim is to get the work out there, not to wait for chances to come along but to maintain a commitment to making art and uphold the Glasgow creed: Do It Yourself.”

This work is a progression from Unit 6 using exactly the same wood and tools, but slightly different rules and timeframes.

The work spanned two days including travel to London from Huddersfield (with ‘the Hod’), travelling across the capital before arriving at the venue the day prior to the exhibition.

I wanted to keep the consistency of the work strong and in similar approach to Unit 6. In order to do this I decided to deliver the wood the day before but hold back on creating anything before the exhibition was under way as I didn’t want to lose the audience element of the work.

Alongside me developing the work whilst the exhibition was in progress I also presented one A1 print of the journey through London to get to the exhibition.
