Again, similar to Unit 5 this piece of work was focused around producing five perfect joints.
Unit 8 was a test piece to get the correct method of joining the struts together while making them appear like one piece of wood. Unit 8 also worked as a useful method to see how the piece would work in an exhibition space, with the colour and size being quite experimental. After Unit 8 was finished I concluded that the overall look of the piece was somewhat rough and unfinished. The struts at different lengths and the varying shades of red helped to make the joints hidden and discreet.
I wanted to make sure all the attention was focused on the joint and direction the wood was being rejoined at; the only way to do this was by keeping a consistent path throughout all 5 struts.
